The Xperia series of the smartphones by Sony Ericsson have been extremely popular among users. On Wednesday, Sony Ericsson Sony Ericsson Logo Imagetook the wraps of a couple of new smartphones for its Xperia series. The unveiled Xperia smartphones are Xperia Active and Xperia Ray.

Features Of Xperia Active And Xperia Ray

Xperia Active boasts of a 3 inch display capable of displaying pictures of resolution measuring 320×480 pixels. It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and is equipped with a 5 MP camera along with a 2GB memory card. The memory card can be expanded to 32GB and comes with several integrated apps. It also has an on-screen heart rate and pulse monitor. The phone is also dust and water resistant. The pricing of the phone is yet to be revealed.

On the other hand Xperia Ray has a larger screen (3.3 inches) and similar to Xperia Active it runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It however has 8.1MP camera and comes with 4GB integrated memory which is also expandable up to 32 GB. Pricing of Ray also has not been revealed.

Sony Ericsson To Manufacture 4G Enabled Handsets In China

In a bid to sustain Chinese domestic fourth-generation telecommunications technology, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB Sony Ericsson Logowill join hands with China Mobile Holding Ltd to manufacture handsets supporting 4G technology. Bert Nordberg, President and CEO of Sony Ericsson Mobile said that it hopes to work upon on TD-LTE technology which has already been adopted by operators in Japan, India and the USA.

Plan To Bring The First LTE Phone By 2012

Sony Ericsson plans to bring the first LTE cell phone in the market in 2012 and TD LTE cell phones will be developed in a new R&D center in Beijing. The center will have nearly 2000 staff and it is expected that it will design more than half of the company’s products.

The Chinese cell phone market offers a great potential for growth for Sony Ericsson as more than 95% of the handsets which the company sold previous year were made in China. The Chinese market also offers high growth potential for smartphone. According to research firm Gartner Inc more than 40% of the cell phones sold in China in 2015 can be smartphones.

According the company officials it sees immense potential in the Rajasthan market and it plans to set up more than 40 distributors in the state.

Airtyme Communication To Launch 3G Enabled Handsets In Indian Market

Airtyme Communication which distributes Motorola XT800 and HTC Pulse CDMA handset in India is planning to come up with its Airtyme Communication Imageown 3G mobile phones in the country. The mobile phones from Airtyme have been dubbed as Flaunt and Torrid. Both the phones will be equipped with full QWERTY keypad slider and will include Java based touch OS.

Features Of Flaunt And Torrid

Flaunt will also be equipped with a 3MP camera  along with Opera mini browser and will be powered by 528MHz processor. It will include a 1GB RAM and the memory of the phone can be expanded up to 32GB. The phone will also have a 3.5mm jack and stereo speaker.

On the other hand Torrid will display a 2.8 inches screen and supports 4GB of external memory. The phone is powered by ARM based processor. While Flaunt is expected to be priced approximately Rs 6000, price of Torrid has not yet been revealed. The company also plans to launch its own Android handsets during quarter 3 of the year.

Maxx Mobile To Come Up With 40 New Models In The Current Fiscal

The Indian mobile handset market has been witnessing an unprecedented rise of late and home based companies have played a vital Maxx Mobile Imagerole in its growth. Maxx Mobiles has already launched 15 models and enjoys a market share of around 3%. Company officials believe the share to touch 5% by the end of the fiscal year. It also plans to sell 6 million handsets by the end of this year as compared to 3.6 million handsets the previous year.

Maxx Mobile also plans to foray into mobile payment facility space and the company is working towards it. It however, refused to divulge the details about it. Currently only Nokia provides mobile payment facility.

Android Grabs 52% Of The Smartphone Market

According to a recent study, Google’s Android mobile phone OS has now taken 52% of the world’s smartphone market. However, the study showed that Canadian mobile phone manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM) has lost over 4% of the market share and now sits on just 11%. The reason cited for RIM’s fallen share it is loss of favor in the US market.
